Key West trays

Key West trays come in a variety of colors.

“When everything seems to be in disarray, it is a sign that something small and wonderful is trying to be born, and it needs us to be distracted so that it has room to grow” — paraphrase of a Buddhist wisdom saying.

In times like these, creativity may bloom and allow unlikely combinations to develop into something wonderful. Such is the case with our new Key West trays. During our COVID-19 shutdown, Mark had some extra time to explore creative pursuits. He also had some extra bottles of underglaze that needed to be used to free up shelf space.

He had been thinking of ways to add products to our Key West line of fun and affordable gifts. He brought together a simple tray shape, some fish-shaped stamps that fit the tray shape and size, some ideas from a graphic artist that he follows, and the extra underglaze. The combination resulted in fun Key West trays. Each one is unique because he builds them by hand and uses different combinations of graphics that go well together.

About 9" long by 5" wide, these terra cotta trays are perfect for holding your keys and spare change. They are also great gifts or mementos for your friends and family. They are hand-crafted of terra cotta clay and non-toxic glazes. They are food-safe, microwave-safe, oven-safe, and dishwasher-safe. $45.

The first batch that we put in the online store sold out quickly. Since then, Mark has been working on fulfilling orders and getting a second batch ready for the online store and our gallery. You can check them out and order them here. You can also see them at our re-opened gallery (COVID-19 rules apply at the gallery to keep us all safe).

P.S. My photo “Stepping out into sea spray (Ballerina)” was chosen to be showcased in the Culture Magazine 2021, published by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts. Read about the story behind the photo here.
