8:30 on the Fourth of July

Introducing a New Photo!

We hope that you can join us at the From a Woman’s Hand exhibit at the Key West Art and Historical Society where you can see Sarah’s new photo 8:30 on the Fourth of July.

The exhibit opens with a reception that is open to the public on Friday, February 7 from 5pm to 8pm at 281 Front Street. The reception is free—all are welcome.

The Story Behind the Photo

On the Fourth of July 2024, we were attending a fireworks viewing party at Hugh’s View atop the Studios of Key West. Before the fireworks started, the sun set over the gulf and the sky lit up with blazing color. I was drawn to the contrast between the blazing sky in the background and the cool white color of the clock tower silhouetted in the middle distance. I snapped the photo at 8:30. Even though the fireworks later that evening were wonderful, the highlight for me occurred at 8:30.
