Adapting and experimenting
In the five months since we learned that COVID-19 was going to affect all our lives in both major and minor ways, we’ve adapted as best we can. We’ve learned to appreciate our time together more, learned to enjoy the little moments of simple grace and beauty in every day, and started to adapt our business to the new realities.
With fewer customers walking through the door (sometimes it’s just Mark and me in the gallery for days in a row!), we have devoted more time to work on new approaches. Mark has done quite a bit of custom work recently, but his major accomplishment is a new line of mid-century modern bowls. These one-of-a kind pieces evoke the look and feel of a quieter time. He has also been experimenting with other techniques that I hope to be able to share with you soon.
I have devoted most of my time to marketing, especially expanding and enhancing our online store to make it easier for people to shop for our products without having to visit the gallery. The online store now includes about 60 products, including the new mid-century modern bowls and e-gift cards. We have tried to simplify the online shopping experience, and we now offer $10 flat rate shipping for orders less than $150 and FREE shipping for orders over $150.
