Our Pottery and Photography Tools

March 11 is National Worship of Tools Day, dedicated to the appreciation of tools and their importance in our daily lives. Who knew? You can celebrate this day by organizing, cleaning, or creating something with your tools.

The tools that Mark and I use are essential to the creation of our art.

Mark’s Pottery Tools

Mark has lots of great tools that he uses for shaping, scraping, and forming clay. His favorite tools are the wooden ones because they are works of art in themselves. According to Mark, “Tools are potential.”

Mark uses forming tools to help create beautiful curves on his bowls.

Sarah’s Photography Tools

I have lots of great lenses and two beautiful Olympus cameras that are also works of art. I carry the PEN-F with me everywhere because it’s small and takes great spontaneous photos. I subscribe to the old photographer’s trope that the best camera is the one you have with you.

I used the PEN-F to make this photo when we were attending a watch party atop The Studios of Key West. You can see this photo at the current Key West Art and Historical Society exhibition at The Customs House.

Drop by the gallery to ask us about our tools and all the great art that they help us make!
