Capturing the rough edges of Key West in our products

Everyone who’s been to Key West knows that it is a little rough around the edges. Mark’s mom called it “rugged.” It’s part of the mystique, and it’s part of what makes our island home so lovable. (If you like great writing about this aspect of Key West, check out Linda Cunningham’s Key West Island News.)

Mark and I are inspired to capture the beauty around us, and part of that beauty is the gritty side of Key West.

Key West mugs

Mark captures the grittiness of our island with these Key West mugs.

Key West trays

Our collectors are drawn to the unpolished aspect of his Key West trays.

Diesel Rust II

This photo captures the beauty of weathering and rust that adds a sort of dignity to an aged piece of machinery at the Diesel Power Plant.

Chug

This detail from a Chug boat that made its way from Cuba to Key West is a testament that you don’t need a polished craft to make a great journey.

Update on Mark

Mark is still recuperating from his hip surgery. He’s getting around with a cane now and doing his physical therapy. Soon he’ll be back to glazing more Key West mugs!
